THE CREDO CREATIVE ARTS CENTRE OPENS!

The Centre was opened on Tuesday, 1st November 2011 by Debbie Simpson, our Grants Officer from The Big Lottery Fund's "Reaching Communities" Programme and Doug Patterson, Chief Executive of Bromley Council.

These photographs are reproduced with kind permission of The Bromley Times and feature:

(from left to right):  Councillor Stephen Carr, Leader of Bromley Council; Debbie Simpson, Grants Officer, The Big Lottery Fund "Reaching Communities" programme; Jan Lovett, Chief Executive Officer, Credo, Doug Patterson, Chief Executive, Bromley Council and Jehan E. Haddad, Head of Operations, Credo.

It was a day to reflect on Credo's journey, all those 13 years ago, through to the journey of moving from our Anchor House base to 67 Cotmandene Crescent.  We acknowledged all the hard work of everyone involved to get us where we always wanted to be.

It was also a great celebration of everyone's hard work and dedication.  We had balloons and ribbon, beautiful ceramics on display for sale and very good food, supplied by Spoons.

Credo is now able to widen its arts base, whilst still retaining its much-loved ceramics.  We run art and digital photography courses and will be introducing more arts and crafts in 2012.

We will be able to run more outreach projects with the community and support more people who have experienced mental illness.

Credo receives no local or national statutory funding; so if you would like to help people build better lives for themselves and their families, please consider giving by Gift Aid. CLICK HERE to find our more.

FAREWELL TO ANNE

Credo's Orpington Workshop Manager, Anne Bannon, has just retired from Credo after 8 years' service. She will now be based at Green Parks House full-time.

Everyone at Credo is very grateful to Anne for the dedication and commitment she has shown to Credo members throughout this period of time.

We would also like to thank Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust for allowing Anne to be seconded to Credo for the past 8 years.

Credo gets a MASSIVE Surprise

As many local Bromley folk will know, The Bromley Advocacy Project ceased operations on 31st March 2010, after its core funding from Bromley Council was not renewed.

Under its Constitution, The Bromley Advocacy Project has to give away its unrestricted funds to other well-deserving organisations within the Borough. The Trustees of The Bromley Advocacy Project decided to make a very generous donation to Credo!

Said Jan Lovett, Credo's Project Co-ordinator:  "This is totally unexpected and such a wonderful surprise for Credo.  That the staff and Trustees of The Bromley Advocacy Project would think of others when they themselves cease to operate is a sign of their generosity of spirit".

Credo staff, members, volunteers and Trustees are all most grateful to The Bromley Advocacy Project and send warmest good wishes to everyone who worked there and provided such an excellent advocacy service to the people of Bromley.
