Credo merges with Community Options
From the 1st April 2013, Credo joined forces and merged with leading London & South East Mental Health charity, Community Options. This exciting development means that Credo can move forward to offer a greater range of creative services to people with mental health needs in the future.
The beneficial role of creative arts in improving people's mental health has been recognised by many experts in the field. This merger brings together two charities that believe that creative arts can play a key role in rebuilding people's lives.
Chris Mansi, CEO of Community Options, said:
"This is an exciting development for us. Credo shares our passion and belief in people's ability to recover, and they have established a good reputation among service users and commissioners alike. Research has shown that creative arts can make a huge difference to people's well being. With Credo's expertise we can offer people in Bromley a wider choice of services."
Geraldine Craig, Former Chair at Credo said:
"In the current economic climate, when so many small charities are floundering, we are determined to create not only a sure foundation for Credo but also an opportunity for the project to develop its full potential. We believe that merging with Community Options is the best way forward and we have an exciting vision for delivering creative and performing arts opportunities for service users across London. By working together we will be able to offer more effective and holistic services to people in the area."
The regular creative arts groups run by Community Options, including Harmony choir which has performed at the O2 arena, and ACE drama group which has performed at the British Library, will be complimented by Credo's ceramics project which has gained support from the European Social Fund and the Big Lottery Fund and been commissioned to produce artwork for Orpington and Bromley.
